Foundation Day

Every year, on 9th May, the Centre celebrates the Foundation Day. Simple yet heart rendering performances are carried out by students and also by performers from outside. Eminent persons from various walks of life are invited on this day to share their precious views with the audience.

In 2012, the Foundation Day programme began with some soothing song offerings by members of the Centre. After that, the Mentor Emeritus gave some welcome words to the audience. This was followed by an address by the President. The Guest of Honour, Prof. Manimala Das, then shared some words. After the deliberation by the Principal, Rabindra Sangeet was performed by Smt. Mita Chatterjee. Shraddhanjali Series 7 was released on this day.

The main event was the Foundation Day Oration on Rabindranath Thakur and Sir Asutosh Mookerjee: Some Intimate Glimpses which was delivered by Justice Chittatosh Mukherjee,

A violin Recital by Shri Paresh Acharyya was next. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal.

In 2013, the students of the Centre started the programme with some melodious song recitals followed by a welcome note by the Vice Principal. Reminicences were shared by the President and a book was released jointly by the President and Dr. Subir Chowdhury in this occasion.

The Foundation Day Oration was delivered by Dr. Subir Chowdhury, Former Director, IIMC, Joka.

A dance performance followed this oration. The audience were then gifted with a hilarious but educative presentation by Prof. Sriankar Acharyya on Kautuk Priyo Rabindranath. After this, a violin recital was performed by Shri Paresh Acharya. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal and National Anthem.

Students and Teaching & Non- Teaching staffs all come together to make this day a grand one. The President and Secretary-Mentor Emeritus of the Centre make this day a memorable one with their august presence.

Tagore Centre for Values Turns Five.

The Centre celebrated its 5th Foundation day programme on 7th August, 2015 at the auditorium at Vishwakarma Building, Topsia.. The programme this year was postponed from 9th May, 2015 to 7th August, due to the demise of Our Beloved Suresh Neotia Ji who was one of our Chief Patrons. The programme began with an Inaugural Song from Tagore and was followed by The Welcome address by our Senior Visiting Fellow Shri Achintya Kumar Mukhopadhaya. Our esteemed President of the Governing Body Shri Harshavardhan Neotia delivered his key- note address and mesmerized the august gathering. The programme was enriched by a short recital from Tagore’s Natya Kavya by Prof. Sriyankar Acharya. Some of our students also took active participation through their heart-rending recitation and song offerings. The programme ended at 7:00 p.m. Several significant luminaries like Dr. Subir Chowdhury, (ex Director IIMC), Dr. Pradip Bhattacharya ( PhD, IAS (Retd), ex-Additional Chief Secretary & Chairman State Planning Board, West Bengal) from our Governing body graced the occasion. All the Faculty and Admin Members and Students took active participation in order to make the programme a grand success.
