Foundation Day

Every year, on 9th May, the Centre celebrates the Foundation Day. Simple yet heart rendering performances are carried out by students and also by performers from outside. Eminent persons from various walks of life are invited on this day to share their precious views with the audience.

Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration

The Rabindranath Tagore Centre for Human Values, with assistance from Ambuja Neotia, celebrated 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at the Centre’s Manan Kendra on 8th February 2013. The programme was inaugurated by Swami Bodhasarananda, Secretary, Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati and Trustee, Ramakrishna Math & Mission. Students from various Higher Educational Institutions of Kolkata viz. Women’s Christian College, Shri Shikshayatan, Bethune College, Ashutosh College, Goenka College, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan ,Presidency University, Scottish Church College, St. Xavier’s College, Lady Brabourne College, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Ramakrishna Mission Narendrapur, Jadavpur University, Jogomaya Devi College, Heritage Institute of Technology participated in this programme and delivered their lectures. Some faculty members of these organizations also graced the occassion.

Freshers’ Welcome

Both the Current and the Outgoing batch students join hand-in-hand to welcome the new batch of students, who enrol for the 2 Year Full time classroom based MA Programme, by performing skits, singing songs along with a small gift given as a token of love. The students performed drama based on Gora by Tagore and on Devi Chaudhurani by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya which form a part of their curriculum.

Annual Oration

In its untiring efforts to reach a wider audience, the Centre has started organising annual oration by distinguished speakers on relevant themes. The Rabindranath Tagore Memorial Oration for the year 2014 sponsored by the Dalmia Manav Seva Trust, New Delhi, has been organised at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ Satyajit Ray Auditorium where the speech on Bharat Teertha and Post-Independence India is delivered by General Shankar Roy Choudhury, COAS-(Retd.).
